SAN ANDREAS – After four months of silence, Weazel News resurfaced on August 30, 2025, with a triumphant announcement that they were back to “continue confirming your prejudices.” But many across the state are asking: was this really a hiatus—or a cover for something deeper, like bankruptcy, staff collapse, or simply public indifference?

A Pattern of Decline

Even before vanishing, Weazel News showed signs of slowing down. In April, their newsroom managed to publish a mere three stories for the entire month. That thin output marked the beginning of their slide into irrelevance, with audiences left without updates, investigations, or even the clickbait headlines they once prided themselves on.

By the start of summer, the silence became total. Residents of San Andreas had no idea if the state’s once-loudest news outlet had folded entirely.

Vinewood Journal Fills the Void

In their absence, The Vinewood Journal was created—not as a side project, but as a response to the collapse of San Andreas’ media landscape. In only a few short months, the Journal has taken the state by storm with consistent coverage, in-depth reporting, and a willingness to tackle stories that matter. Citizens, officials, and organizations alike now turn to the Journal as the state’s reliable source for breaking news and investigative reporting.

While Weazel News was busy with “motivational gongs” and excuses about interpretive dance projects, the Journal was on the streets delivering facts.

Excuses or Exposé Waiting to Happen?

Weazel News claims their absence was due to quirky newsroom mishaps: budget issues, caffeine shortages, even morale stunts gone wrong. But San Andreas isn’t buying it. Was this really about office hijinks—or was the network unable to pay its bills, hemorrhaging staff, and losing viewership at a rate they couldn’t recover from?

The harder question: if San Andreas citizens no longer cared enough to demand their return, what kind of audience are they truly coming back to?

The State Has Already Chosen

Now, as Weazel News tries to claw back attention, the reality is clear: San Andreas has already moved on. The Vinewood Journal has become the voice of the people, the standard of journalism, and the outlet unafraid to hold power accountable.

Weazel can return, but they’re no longer returning to the throne.
