SAHP Sets the Standard: First Law Enforcement Agency in San Andreas to Publicly Release Pay Scale

Updated: May 9

PALOMINO HIGHLANDS, SA — In a bold and commendable move toward transparency and accountability, the San Andreas Highway Patrol (SAHP) has become the first law enforcement agency in the state to publicly release its full trooper pay scale. The announcement was made official today via a press release from SAHP Public Relations Officer Andrew Murphy.

This latest development, now featured on the agency’s official portal under the “Careers” tab, outlines the pay structure from Probationary Trooper up to Commissioner. The move not only gives the public and prospective applicants a clearer understanding of compensation within the department, but also strengthens the agency’s commitment to integrity and openness in public service.

“In our department’s effort to increase and maintain transparency… we’ve made this information readily accessible to both our troopers and the citizens we serve,” said Murphy in the release.

A Breakdown of the Pay Scale:

  • Entry-level troopers begin at $2,000 per cycle as Probationary Troopers, with steady increases through promotion tiers.

  • Mid-level roles like Sergeant ($4,250) and Master Sergeant ($5,250) reflect both leadership responsibilities and field experience.

  • Executive leadership, such as Captains ($5,750) and Commissioners ($7,000), represent the top tier of departmental command and accountability.

The full pay structure includes over twenty ranked positions, each clearly listed with its corresponding salary — a first in the state’s law enforcement history.

Setting a Precedent for Others to Follow

With increasing calls nationwide for transparency within police organizations, the SAHP’s initiative may pave the way for other departments in San Andreas to follow suit. Community advocacy groups have long pushed for more openness in budget allocation and officer compensation, especially when public trust in policing institutions is at stake.

“This is a win for everyone — the troopers who deserve recognition for their work and the citizens who fund and rely on these services,” commented Dr. Elena West, a professor of Public Administration at ULSA. “It sets a model for modern, accountable policing.”

What This Means for Future Recruits

Potential applicants now have a clearer financial roadmap when considering a career with the SAHP. According to internal sources, this could boost recruitment by eliminating ambiguity and highlighting a structured path for both professional growth and compensation.

As of today, the SAHP careers page features not only this new pay scale but also detailed information on reserve programs and advancement opportunities.

A New Era of Policing Transparency

While many law enforcement agencies still guard pay details closely, the San Andreas Highway Patrol has taken a proactive approach. This transparency move is likely to resonate with both the public and policy makers — and may ignite a broader movement across the state.

For more information, the public can access the pay scale directly through the SAHP Careers Portal or contact their Public Relations Office at 213-366-8470.
