Updated: Sep 12

Roxwood, San Andreas — A shocking act of violence unfolded today in Roxwood, leaving Lieutenant Governor Natalie Bennett wounded and sparking immediate responses from law enforcement, government officials, and the public at large.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor released the following statement regarding the incident:

San Andreas - Statement from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor

Earlier today, Lieutenant Governor Natalie Bennett was injured in a shooting incident in Roxwood. While departing from a property viewing in the Roxwood area, her motorcade came under attack near Roxwood Airport. A single round struck the side of the Lieutenant Governor’s vehicle, wounding her in the chest.

Lieutenant Governor Bennett was evacuated immediately by her protective detail and transported by air to the city for emergency medical care. She is currently listed in serious but stable condition, and physicians remain optimistic she will make a full recovery.

Also injured in the incident was Mr. Donald Orange, a passenger in the vehicle and representative of Dynasty 8 property management. Mr. Orange sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and is receiving appropriate medical treatment.

The Lieutenant Governor and Mr. Orange had been in Roxwood to tour and finalize the purchase of a property that will serve as the future Lieutenant Governor’s Mansion, intended both as a private residence and as a venue for public events sponsored by the State.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor commends the swift and decisive actions of her security detail, whose professionalism ensured both the immediate safety of the Lieutenant Governor and Mr. Orange, their rapid airlift to the city, and transfer to hospital care. Their training and response also played a critical role in the quick capture and identification of the suspect, who was armed and dangerous. During the incident, the suspect fired upon and injured multiple law enforcement officers before ultimately being subdued and taken into custody.

We are deeply grateful to the members of law enforcement and medical personnel who continue to protect and care for Lieutenant Governor Bennett, Mr. Orange, and the people of San Andreas.

Further updates on the Lieutenant Governor’s recovery will be provided as appropriate.

The attack occurred near Roxwood Airport shortly after the Lieutenant Governor’s motorcade departed from a property tour. Witnesses described a scene of chaos as gunfire erupted, forcing security personnel and nearby officers to return fire while shielding the injured.

According to preliminary reports, the assailant managed to wound multiple law enforcement officers before being subdued and taken into custody. Authorities have yet to release the suspect’s identity or motive, but investigators confirmed the weapon recovered was a high-powered rifle.

The incident has rattled the state, as Lieutenant Governor Bennett is not only a key political figure but also an increasingly visible presence in public events and community initiatives. Her visit to Roxwood was part of a planned purchase of a future Lieutenant Governor’s Mansion, designed to serve both as her residence and as a venue for state-sponsored gatherings.

Mr. Donald Orange, the Dynasty 8 representative injured in the attack, is reported to be recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg. His role in the Roxwood property transaction highlights the symbolic weight of the visit — what was meant to be a milestone in the administration’s vision for state leadership instead turned into a moment of violence.

State officials and community leaders have already begun issuing statements of solidarity. One government spokesperson called the attack “a brazen assault not only on the Lieutenant Governor but on the stability of the State itself.”

Law enforcement agencies remain on heightened alert as the investigation unfolds, with officials assuring the public that the suspect is in custody and no additional threats are believed to be present. Security measures around other state officials have reportedly been reinforced in response.

As of press time, Lieutenant Governor Bennett remains in serious but stable condition. Physicians remain optimistic about her recovery, though the timeline for her return to official duties is not yet clear. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor has pledged to release updates as her condition progresses.

For many, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by public officials and the law enforcement officers sworn to protect them. As the state waits for further word, thoughts remain with Lieutenant Governor Bennett, Mr. Orange, and the officers injured in the line of duty.
